About Mrs. KuehnerMy last name is pronounced "Keener."
I became a teacher through New Jersey's Alternate Route program so I could train the next generation of scientists and engineers. I've taught chemistry and environmental science at the high school level, and came to OPS in the fall of 2013 to begin the best job ever, as Science Lab Specialist. I LOVE helping students do hands-on science experiments. We get our hands dirty, make messes, and learn science by doing it, the way real scientists do. Before becoming a teacher, I was scientist in the biotech industry, a researcher in a university lab, and an educator at the Tenafly Nature Center. My Bachelor's degree is in Bioengineering from Penn (the University of Pennsylvania), and I have an M.A. and an M. Phil. from Columbia University, in Microbiology. Since joining OPS, I've became a Google Certified Educator by demonstrating proficiency in using Google Apps for Education. I also promote science education as a Space Foundation Teacher Liaison and an Aerospace Education Member of the Civil Air Patrol. |
