Kindergarteners learned how to use thermometers to measure temperatures, and observed how days have been getting colder. Do you know how to find north using the North Star? Ask an OPS First Grader (hint - look for the Big Dipper first.) Second graders used snap-together cubes to model how matter is made of particles that can be rearranged. They got very creative with their arrangements of cubes. Third graders can use what they know about different kinds of clouds to predict stormy weather. Fourth graders are making waves in water, strings and a giant slinky to show how energy can travel. Fifth graders built model ponds with snails and plants so they could see the interactions in an aquatic ecosystem. Sixth graders started learning about chemical reactions by making invisible ink messages in baking soda and revealing them with grape juice.
