About the OPS Science Lab
A science lab in an elementary school? Isn't that something for middle and high schools? Usually, yes. But the students of Oradell Public School are very lucky. OPS has a science lab where we get to do experiments that are too messy for their classrooms. Our lab was named for Wally Schirra, an astronaut who went to our school. Our curriculum is described here. Each class in grades K-6 visits once every two weeks, and we do chemistry, handle insects, test soil, make observations, record data, learn about stars in a portable planetarium, plant in the school garden...
