Our Kindergarten students did a recycling project in which they made an outfit for a toy out of recycled materials. First Graders observed eagle cams and drew diagrams showing similarities and differences between the parents and offspring. Second graders are studying plants and how they spread their seeds. Third graders will be learning about traits that help animals survive and can be passed along to offspring. Fourth graders will be doing some earth science activities. Fifth graders are experimenting with matter, and Sixth graders are seeing how laws of motion describe how things move.
A note about logistics: most Special Areas like Art and Music are posting their lessons on the Special Areas website, but not Science Lab. My activities are integrated into the classroom teachers’ websites, because I collaborate with them to develop lessons that support our science curriculum. OPS students are still having Science Lab activities approximately once every two weeks, just like when we were meeting in person.
